Abstract

In order to study of the effect of irrigation interval and nitrogen levelsin B73 female line on the seed ( maize hybrid seed K.S.C704) yield and quality, an experiment was conducted at 2013 as split blockbased on randomized complete block design in two main regions of maize seed production (Kermanshah,Moghan). For producing this hybrid, the female rows were pollinated by the male rows (Mo17). Results showed that in Kermanshah, use of combination treatment with 300 or 400 kg/ha net nitrogen and seven or nine-days irrigation circle, and in Moghan, application of 400 kg/ha nitrogen and irrigation nine-days irrigation circle produced the highest seed yield, but on the aspect of physiological seed quality, though much nitrogen (400 kg/ha) promotes standard germination percentage in laboratory (95% and 92% for Kermanshah and Moghan, respectively), but the highest seed emergence and stablishment in the field (69% and 73.5%, respectively for Kermanshah and Moghan) obtained by 300 and 200 kg/ha for these two regions. So, for producing high vigor seeds, especially for hot summer sowing, it is advisable to use nine-days irrigation interval with 200-300 kg/ha net nitrogen, and the more consumption of water and nitrogen fertilizer lead to waste in water resources, contamination of water and soil and reducing final seed quality.
