Abstract

In order to examine some of the factors affecting fuel consumption in the various agricultural operations in wheat production in Golestan province were selected 140 fields from 10 cities in the manner of systematic- random sampling. Previous crop, the city, the power of the tractor, grain yield and the field area were considered as the factors affecting fuel consumption. Based on the results, planting wheat after rice had the most fuel consumption (71±0.20 l.ha-1) and after fallow has the least fuel consumption (44±0.13 l.ha-1) for land preparing.Total fuel consumption in different cities for all cultural operations showed no significant difference. Although, it seems that focus onreducing the fuel consumption in land preparation can decrease the total fuel consumption in cities. Using of the tractors with more power by reducing the time for agricultural operations such as land preparation and also by decreasing in number passing of equipment can reduce the fuel consumption. By increasing the wheat field areas, fuel consumption in land preparation, harvest and total operations were decreased
