Abstract

Sesame is one of the most important oil plants with high oil quality and it is cultivating in different parts of the world including Iran. In order to increase the diversity and production of superior varieties of sesame with desirable agronomic characteristics and yield, as well as adaptionto the climatic conditions of the Caspian coast, eight genotypes of sesame contains five breeding lines with three cultivars including: multi-branching Naz variety, Oltan and Yekta were studied in randomized completely block design with four replications in 2012 at two regions of Hossein Abad and Zaghmarzregions of Behshar. Results of analysis variance showed that significant differences were among the genotypes for plant height, growth duration, yield, and stem diameter and 1000-seed weight at 1% probability level. In Addition to, genotype × location interaction were significant at 1% probability level for all traits except to grain weight. Means comparison showed that multi-branching Naz variety(G6)is considered as superior genotype with grain yield mean of 1229 kg ha-1. The G1, G2 and G8, genotypes were placed in rank after G6 with an average yield 861.5, 750 and 869.1 kg ha-1, respectively.
